Annotation:

The article is devoted to the main directions of physical training in the units of the penal system. The content of the work carried out is revealed, the analysis of which allows us to conclude that through the regular conduct of such events, the level of professional skill is increased, the physical and moral and psychological qualities of employees are developed, and a physical and health-improving effect on human health is significantly.
The motivation of employees in regular classes depends on a number of factors: from work-load to the appearance of diseases during the service. On the basis of V.I. Tropnikov «Studying the motives of going in for sports» a study of groups of successful and less successful sportsmen-employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia was carried out. As a result of the study, it was revealed that the common motives of the two groups are: communication and cognition, the acquisition of skills and abilities useful for life.
It should be noted that the motives of more successful athletes are the development of mental qualities and character, physical improvement and collectivist orientation. What cannot be said about the group of less successful athletes who are characterized by motives of approval, receiving aesthetic pleasure and thrills, increasing prestige and attention, improving well-being and health. On the basis of the study, it was found that only stable internal motives for playing sports are one of the significant resources for successful professional activity.
