Annotation:

At the present stage of development of psychodiagnostics, there are many theoretically grounded, valid survey methods for studying personality traits and mental states. Despite this, in a qualitative study of the personality of a particular individual during counseling, according to the diagnostic results, discrepancies are found between the conclusions of the tests and the self-perception of the respondents, the results obtained by the method of expert assessments, by the method of document analysis. According to the hypothesis of the study, one of the reasons for the emergence of such inconsistencies is difficulties in the perception and understanding of the text of psychodiagnostic techniques. The article discusses the mechanisms of perception and understanding of oral and written speech, identifies possible errors in the interpretation of the text of standardized questionnaire psychodiagnostic methods from the point of view of neurophysiology, neuropsychology, general psychology, psycholinguistics and socio-cultural aspects. The study is theoretical in nature and is aimed at developing the stages of empirical study of differences in the understanding of instructions and test tasks in the context of the penitenciary system.
