The article analyzes the norms of material, household and medical and sanitary provision of convicts in correctional institutions. A study conducted among women, both previously serving imprisonment and for the first time convicted in correctional colonies of the general regime of the Ural Federal District of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, showed that there is a wide range of issues related to material and household standards of support. In addition, at present, medical and preventive and sanitary and preventive provision of women in correctional institutions is carried out at a rather low level and it does not differ significantly from the conditions for providing men serving a similar sentence.
Based on the results of the study, the author comes to the conclusion that the material, household and medical and sanitary provision of women serving sentences in the form of imprisonment is primarily aimed at preserving life and health, fostering the need to comply with sanitary and hygienic norms and rules in everyday life after release. , as well as strengthening, restoring and maintaining socially beneficial ties with family and friends.
